Saturday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena it almost seemed like there was not a loser once the buzzer sounded.

Yes the Broncos were tripped up 3-1 by the Weyburn Red Wings but for all in attendance they got to say goodbye to a hometown favourite.

Jarrett Fontaine helped set up the Wings tying goal in the second period, although he was credited with the goal during the game which created a gleeful buzz among the local supporters.

"I shot it, I think it hit off our player(Aiden Teilborg) and in but you know what, I don't really care if it's me or whoever. I'm just happy to help win games for this hockey team," he said following the contest.

Overshadowed perhaps, but definitely a remarkable story was Humboldt netminder Carter Seminuk who was sensational making 50 saves on 52 shots in the loss.

The Broncos actually led the game halfway through when Nikolas Malenica snapped his first career Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League goal past Jack Burgart making it 1-0.

Teilborg would tie the game five minutes later during a lengthy Wings 5-on-3 power-play that was awarded much to the chagrin of the hometown fans.

Weyburn would then take the lead three minutes later, Ian Parker beat Seminuk making it 2-1 which was the game wining goal.

The Wings would get an empty net goal with just two seconds left in the third period.

The Broncos only generated 14 shots on Jack Burgart which was not due to lack of effort. Humboldt was likely aware the Yorkton Terriers moved 10 points up on them for the final playoff spot with just eight games left. Yorkton defeated Melville 3-2 in an afternoon affair really pushing Humboldt to bring their best. They played like it was their last chance staying within a shot all night. The games left are now at seven with one head to head to close the regular season.

With the Broncos post season hopes dwindling, the chance for Fontaine to return to the EPA is slim but he said that will sink in at a later date.

"Yeah, it's kind of weird that this is going to be the last time I play in this rink probably. It's kind of a weird feeling. I am just glad it was as successful as it was."

Weyburn was 1/5 on the power-play, Humboldt was unable to score on two chances.

The Broncos were without defensemen Corey Dambrauskas and Connor Swystun, they dressed just five blueliners.

The green and gold's next game is Friday when they travel to the Northern Lights Palace to face the Mustangs in Melfort.

You can hear more from Fontaine following likely his last game at the Elgar Petersen Arena below.

Elsewhere in the SJHL on Saturday night, LaRonge slipped past Notre Dame 4-3 in overtime, Melfort doubled Flin Flon 4-2 and Estevan downed Nipawin 5-3.
