Over 100 of Saskatchewan's top high school golfers are at Madge Lake on Friday as the 2016 Provincial Championships get underway.

Humboldt's Tayden Wallin will be looking to defend his crown in the boy's competition.

Wallin claimed the gold medal last year by edging out Carson Harcourt in a playoff hole. The Grade 12 student at HCI has qualified for provincials every year by winning the district championship four consecutive years.

He will be joined by Carson Horachek to represent the Mohawks.

Other golfers from the Horizon Central Athletic Association participating are Austin Hilts, Michael Shewchuk, Rylan Sokul and Carson Fisher from Wynyard.

In the girls tournament, Kelvington's Sara Jestin and Bailey Locke will look to bring back a medal.

The two-day championship concludes on Saturday.
