It's a rivalry as long as any Canadian can remember, Canada against the United States.

The town of Wakaw, Saskatchewan will host Can-Am Bowl XXIII on July 6th at the Wakaw School football field.

The Can-Am Bowl is a six-man football game between the best Grade 12 players in Western Canada and the United States of America. The USA currently leads the series 18-4 with Canada's last Can-Am win 10 years ago.

Schools can put their names forward if they wish to host the Can-Am Bowl. This year, Macklin and Wakaw were the two teams interested in hosting. At first, it seemed Macklin was going to take 2019 and Wakaw would have to wait till 2020.

"I guess the football gods played it out and in the end, Macklin wouldn't be able to host. As a result, they came back to us because they knew I was interested in hosting this year with the number of grade 12 players and talent we have in Wakaw, " said Offensive Coach of the Wakaw Warriors, Darryl Dickson and will be the head coach for the Canadian team.

All the Grade 12's out Wakaw and other graduating six-man football players will be able to try out for the Can-Am Bowl by filling out registration packages sent out to six-man coaches across Western-Canada. It will also be important for players to take part in the 2019 Saskatchewan Combine and Senior Bowl where the Canadian coaching staff will approach players.

Practice starts in Wakaw on July 2nd with practice throughout the week and the game taking place around eight o'clock in the evening of July 6th under the Saturday night lights.

Wakaw also hosted the 2A six-man Provincial Championship in 2018.
