Two Horizon Central curling teams came up just shy of playoffs and a chance to medal at the provincial high school curling championships.

Wadena, who qualified by winning regionals, and Ituna, who advanced as hosts for the girls competition both finished the round robin with one win and two losses.

Ituna's chances at a medal came to an end with two tough one point losses to Maple Creek and the eventual provincial champions from Lemberg.

Wadena was knocked out with a 10-1 loss to Moosomin, as well as a 6-4 setback to Allan.

Allan qualified as one of the four playoff teams, falling 6-3 to Lemberg in the semifinal before securing the bronze medal with a 6-4 win over Moosomin.
