For the second straight year and the fifth time in six years, the Saskatoon Hilltops won the Prairie Football Conference in the Canadian Junior Football League, downing the Calgary Colts 38-16.

The Hilltops, who have five graduates of the HCI Mohawks football program got out to a slow start offensively, leading 3-0 after the first quarter.

Early in the second frame, running back Logan Fischer scored on a 25 yard run with help from Humboldt's Drayke Unger, the team's starting left guard.

Infact, Unger helped pave the way for all four touchdowns Fischer scored, as the Hilltops ran to the side of the fourth year offensive lineman, including twice on the goal line where he lines up as a fullback.

On the Toppers final touchdown of the game, Saskatoon sucked in the defence with a fake handoff to Unger before throwing it over top to defensive lineman Matt Kozun.

This is Unger's first season starting along the team's offensive line.

Defensively, tackle Tyrell Hering gave the Colts offensive line fits, earning one sack of quarterback John Kiesman, along with a pass knockdown. On three occasions, Hering's pressure forced Kiesman to become uneasy in the pocket, leading to minimal or no gain, and one of the three times - a sack.

Second year defensive end Connor Guillet had a pair of tackles in the win. Though not on the stat sheet in the win, Dillon Buckle has also brought an impact as a rotational defensive tackle, earning eight tackles as well as three and a half sacks throughout the season.

Rookie Tristan Hering did not dress for the game, but will certainly play a major factor for the Hilltops in years to come after being named the team's Camp MVP in May.

The Hilltops will look to earn their second straight Canadian Bowl on November 7 when they host the Okanagan Sun at Saskatoon's SMF Field. The Sun shutout the Vancouver Island Raiders on Sunday, 54-0.
