Saskatoon's best soccer team had another successful weekend, as they participated in the Regina Winterfest tournament.

No, you didn't read that wrong.

The Under-16 Humboldt Hurricanes, in their first season, are leaders of the pack when it comes to the Saskatoon Youth Indoor Soccer League.

In between regular season contests Thursday and Sunday, the Hurricanes were busy taking care of the competition in Regina.

They started out with a 5-1 win Friday over the Aurora Celtics. The tidal wave of momentum continued Saturday as they downed FCR Indigo 4-0 before taking a 5-1 win over Oakbank.

In the semi-finals Sunday morning, they took care of Hollandia Rtimi 4-1, vaulting them in to the championship game.

A tightly contested battle saw the Hurricanes claim the tournament title with a 2-1 win over Hollandia Nimegeers.

Three hours after winning Gold in Regina, the Hurricanes were on the pitch for a regular season contest in Saskatoon - a 5-0 win over the Celtics to push their record to 8-0-1.

The Under-14 Hurricanes were also at the Winterfest tournament.

Normally a Division III team, they moved up one class to compete in Regina, ultimately holding a fourth place standing.

They started out with back-to-back shutouts, taking a 4-0 win over FCR Navy and a 1-0 contest against RASC.

In their final round robin game they dropped a 5-2 decision to Swift Current, which dropped them to the fourth seed and eventually a semi-final exit to the top-seeded Hollandia Sirman.
