For the third straight game, the HCI Mohawks drove the ball down the field for an opening drive touchdown, as they hosted the Nipawin Bears at Glenn Hall Park.

Slotback Jared Giddings caught a slant pass over the middle from quarterback Landon Seipp for the opening score. The duo would connect again in the second quarter with Tanner Gerwing, Jacob Zimroz, and Morgan Gobeil adding touchdowns, giving the Mohawks a 39-0 edge at the break.

Gobeil took over at QB for Seipp in the second half as the Mohawks scored three more times with Zimroz, Gerwing, and Giddings each finding paydirt, giving Humboldt a 59-0 victory.

"We started the game off good, and then some big plays were brought back by penalty," said Seipp following the game. "After that we started rolling and kept the ball moving."

Defensively, Humboldt has yielded just 28 points through three games, posting their first shutout of the year against the Bears.

"The defence played awesome. (Allowing) no points is very hard to do in high school football. Grades 10 through 12 all played awesome," Seipp stated.

The Mohawks, now 3-0 on the year will play Tisdale on Friday in their final regular season home game.

It has been a busy past week for the junior Mohawks, composed of Grade 9 and 10 players.

On Saturday they had a jamboree in Tisdale, where they defeated Nipawin 21-0 in the opener before getting past the host Tornados 14-7 in the middle game.

Trailing 7-0, Humboldt tied the game on a touchdown from slotback Jayden Huls. On the ensuing defensive drive, Hayden Reeme ripped the ball out, giving the ball to the Mohawks on a short field.

Running back Dawson Hering would secure the win with a 42 yard touchdown.

In their final game, the Mohawks fell 14-0 to Melfort, finishing the day with a 2-1 record.

The Delisle Rebels visited Glenn Hall Park on Tuesday, as the juniors played out their lone home game on the schedule.

Scoring on their opening drive, the Mohawks lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 49 points in a 49-14 win. Huls had a pair of touchdowns, with Bray Berschiminsky, Rylan Eckl, Morgan Gobeil, Carter Tarnowski, and Cole Grace each finding the endzone.

The juniors wrap up their mini season on October 6th when they visit Warman.

Around the docket in six man football, Raymore improved to 4-0 with a 64-9 win over Ituna. The Rebels have controlled each game played thus far, winning by an average margin of 51 points.

Viscount dropped a 87-20 decision on the road in Hanley, Wakaw defeated Aberdeen 62-19, Wynyard shutout Preeceville 71-0, Watrous took care of Cupar 50-22, Lanigan fell to 0-3 with a 64-46 loss at Assiniboia, and Watson went down 70-44 to Kamsack.

This week, Raymore heads to Lemberg, Viscount welcomes in Davidson, Wakaw visits Hague, Wynyard hosts Kamsack, Watson is home to Preeceville, Watrous has a week one re-match against Assiniboia, and Lanigan travels to Cupar.

The only thing that has stopped the Saskatoon Hilltops thus far this season is the bye week, which came up this past week.

The Toppers sit alone atop the Prairie Football Conference in the Canadian Junior Football League with a record of 6-0. Their final two games will see the Hilltops head to Edmonton on Sunday before hosting Calgary in the regular season finale on October 11.

Five grads of the HCI Mohawks football team play for the Hilltops.

Offensive lineman Drayke Unger, who also sees team as a fullback in jumbo formations, has one rushing touchdown while helping pave the way for over 1,100 yards on the ground.

Dillon Buckle has 13 tackles, three and a half sacks, and a touchdown on a fumble recovery. Tyrell Hering has tallied seven tackles and two sacks, younger brother Tristan in his first year with the team has four takedowns, while Connor Guillet has ten tackles and a quarterback sack.

After a 0-2 start to the year, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies have secured back to back wins, bringing their record back to .500 at 2-2.

The Huskies visited Vancouver on Friday for a meeting with the UBC Thunderbirds - a 45-29 win for the Dogs.

Wynyard's Lance Bashutsky had four tackles along with a pass break-up in the win, as well as one kick return for five yards.

The Huskies, currently ranked eighth in the country, are on the road once again this week as they play the Calgary Dinos.

Humboldt's Kelly Bates is still seeking his first win as a head coach.

The Simon Fraser Clan fell to 0-3 on the year as they dropped a 40-7 decision to the Central Washington Wildcats.

On a bye this week, the Clan are back in action on October 10 when they host the Dixie State Red Storm.
