The HCI Mohawks improved to 2-0 on their season, as they visited the Tisdale Tornados.

Out to an early lead, Jared Giddings scored in the opening minute of the game. Genesis Legaspi added a receiving touchdown to gave the Mohawks a 13-0 lead through one quarter.

From there, Humboldt continued to pile on, leading 34-7 at the break, eventually coming away with a 62-14 victory. Quarterback Landon Seipp and running back Tyson Hergott each had touchdowns in the second half.

The Mohawks return home on Friday as they host the Nipawin Bears for a 4:00pm kickoff at Glenn Hall Park.

As the senior team prepares for the Bears, the juniors are into their live game experience.

On Tuesday, they visited the Clavet Cougars. After getting down 7-0, the Mohawks responded with a lengthy touchdown run from quarterback Morgan Gobeil.

Gobeil would add a receiving touchdown from second string pivot Carter Tarnowski in the first half. Running back Bray Berschiminsky and slotback Jayden Huls also had first half touchdowns, giving Humboldt a 28-14 lead at the break. Gobeil would add a third touchdown in the game's closing minutes, running back an interception for a score.

Leading 28-21 with 7 minutes left, the Mohawks drove the field on the strength of their ground game, which featured Dawson Hering carrying the ball. Humboldt pinned Clavet at their one yard line before Gobeil sealed it with the pick.

The Juniors head to Tisdale on Saturday for a jamboree that will feature three games against the Tornados, Nipawin, and Melfort. They will also host Delisle on Tuesday at Glenn Hall Park.

In six man football, the Watrous Wildcats earned their first win of the season, downing the Lanigan Lazers 40-6 on the road. Wynyard defeated Watson 76-8 in the first game of the season for both sides. Wakaw improved to 2-0 with a 54-30 win over Porcupine Plain. Viscount fell 44-13 to Central Butte, and Raymore blew past Milestone 90-6.

Around the league this week, Viscount travels to Hanley for a week one re-match. Raymore hosts Ituna, Wakaw visits Aberdeen, Watson travels to Kamsack, Wynyard is home to Preeceville, the 2-0 Assiniboia Rockets welcome in Lanigan, and Watrous is on home turf for the first time this year, as they welcome in Cupar.

The Saskatoon Hilltops continue their winning ways, as they defeated the Edmonton Huskies 49-17 at SMF Field on Sunday.

First year Hilltop Tristan Hering had three tackles in the win. Brother Tyrell added a pair of takedowns, while Dillon Buckle also notched a tackle in the win. Drayke Unger and the Toppers offensive line paved the way for 120 yards on the ground as well.

Saskatoon improved to 6-0 on the year with the win and will have a bye this week before concluding the regular season in Edmonton and at home to Calgary.

The Saskatchewan Huskies are on the board for the first time in 2015, as they downed their provincial rivals from Regina 33-18.

For a third straight game, the Huskies led at the half, and this time were able to secure the win, outscoring the Rams 14-8 in the half.

Wynyard's Lance Bashutsky - a defensive back - had four tackles and a pair of pass break-ups in the victory. The Huskies head to the left coast for a meeting with the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday night.

Kelly Bates and the Simon Fraser Clan had their homecoming game on Saturday, as they welcomed the Azusa Pacific Cougars to Burnaby's Swangard Stadium.

After both sides exchanged ten point quarters in the first half for a 10-10 stalemate, the Cougars found the endzone early in the fourth quarter to lead 16-10, which would be enough to secure the victory.

The Clan fell to 0-2 on the season with the defeat, and will visit the Central Washington Wildcats on Saturday in search of their first win.
