The HCI Mohawks scored on offence, defence, and special teams on Thursday, as they improved to 5-0 with a 66-0 win over the Nipawin Bears.

After the Mohawks had to settle for a field goal from kicker Cole Grace on their opening possession, Humboldt rattled off four opening quarter touchdowns, to lead Nipawin 31-0.

Humboldt added a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter for a 45-0 halftime edge, before wrapping up the game with three more majors in the second half.

Morgan Gobeil, Tanner Gerwing, and Jacob Zimroz each had three touchdowns in the game, with both Gobeil and Gerwing returning interceptions for touchdowns. Gerwing also had a punt return for six points.

The Mohawks are off this week, as they now look forward to their biggest battle of the year against the defending provincial champion Melfort Comets. That game will determine first place in the conference, and also whether the Mohawks will be at home or on the road to open the provincial playoffs on October 31.

The Watrous Wildcats kept hold on first place in their conference with a 55-13 win over Lanigan.

In six-man football, the Wakaw Warriors wrapped up their regular season with a 38-22 win over the Carrot River Wildcats. It was a tone-setter for this week, as the two sides will square off once again in a one game playoff that will send the winner to provincials.

The Wynyard Bears defeated Preeceville 89-20 on the road, and now get set to welcome in Watson on Friday. They will be playing the game under the lights at 7:00pm, as the team once again hosts its mini tackle hunger. All food collected at the game will be donated to the Wynyard food bank.

Elsewhere, Raymore downed Southey in a high-scoring affair, 57-45, Viscount fell 20-8 to Caronport, and Watrous defeated Lanigan 55-13.

This week, Raymore hosts Canora, Viscount heads to Outlook to take on LCBI in their final game, Watrous visits Cupar, and Lanigan hosts Assiniboia.

Playoffs have arrived in the Canadian Junior Football League, as the regular season wrapped up on Sunday.

The Saskatoon Hilltops couldn't keep their perfect season going, as they fell 34-4 to the visiting Calgary Colts, ending their regular season at 7-1. The Hilltops rotated in plenty of players throughout the game, not necessarily needing a victory.

Humboldt's Connor Guillet had six tackles in the game. Dillon Buckle and Tyrell Hering each had a pair of takedowns, while Tristan Hering also had a tackle.

The Hilltops will host Wynyard's Josh Doidge and the Winnipeg Rifles at 1:00pm on Sunday in the PFC Semi-Final.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies had the past week off, but it was a week to figure out the Calgary Colts.

In their last game, the Huskies got up 10-3 in the second quarter before losing 59-19, and now they will host Calgary on Friday night in the team's annual blackout game.

Wynyard's Lance Bashutsky is with the Huskies, and thus far this season, the defensive back has contributed 11.5 tackles, and three pass break-ups. He also is one of the country's top kick returns, taking 13 runbacks for 360 yards - an average of 27.7 yards per touch - and a pair of punt returns for 27 yards.

It was another tough outing for Humboldt's Kelly Bates and the Simon Fraser Clan.

Seeking their first win of the year, the Clan hosted the Dixie State Red Storm on Saturday.

A tight contest throughout the game, it was tied at half, with Simon Fraser eventually grabbing their first lead of the game, as they were up 27-24 with ten minutes left in the game.

Dixie State quickly scored on a 75 yard touchdown run, and the Clan couldn't rally back, as they fell 38-35 to drop to 0-4.

SFU is on the road this week, as they visit the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hardrockers.
