It took longer than they would have preferred, but the HCI Mohawks eventually got the lead and pulled away from the Martensville Royals in the provincial quarter-finals.

Trailing 3-1 in the fourth quarter, slotback Jared Giddings broke free on a 55 yard run that eventually set up a three yard touchdown run on third down from quarterback Landon Seipp.

"It was very hard, they have a very good defence and brought pressure every single play, and their DB's did an awesome job," explained Seipp. "We just found some holes at the end of the game and scored on them."

On the play that seemingly turned the tide offensively, Giddings was ecstatic to make an impact at that time in the game.

"It felt awesome, we were kind of struggling throughout the game on offence - their defence played great. We just kept grinding and grinding and eventually it opened up."

Doubling as the team's safety, he also recorded two interceptions in the game.

"I just want to do whatever I can. Me and the other DB's we're just trying to make sure no one gets over top. We just did our job today and it worked out."

Seipp would later add a second rushing touchdown, securing a 15-3 win for Humboldt, who will now host the Warman Wolverines in the provincial semi-final.

Kickoff at Glenn Hall Park is 1:00pm on Saturday.

The winner of that game will meet either Melfort or John Paul II from North Battleford in the 3A provincial final on November 14.

On the 2A side in nine-man football, Clavet meets Delisle, while Shaunavon will battle Melville.

The quest for four is very much alive for the Watrous Wildcats in six man football. Hosting the Rosetown Royals, Watrous came away with a 44-20 victory.

Wynyard didn't have as much fortune as Watrous did. Trailing for a majority of the game, the Bears eventually took the lead in the fourth quarter in their game against Birch Hills.

The Marauders, however, scored a game-winning 30 yard touchdown with seven seconds left to secure a 60-54 win, and advance to the semi-finals where they will host Hafford.

Watrous will travel to Rosthern for a meeting with the Longhorns.

In the 1A bracket, the Raymore Rebels advanced to the semis with a 48-13 win over Carrot River. They will now host Gull Lake in the semi-finals, while Southey welcomes in Kerrobert on the other side.

After a week off, it is back to business for the Saskatoon Hilltops, as they look for a second straight Canadian Bowl.

Following their 38-16 win over the Calgary Colts, the Toppers had the past two weeks to prepare for the Okanagan Sun in the junior national championship.

Drayke Unger, Tyrell Hering, Dillon Buckle, Tristan Hering, and Connor Guillet represent the contingent of former HCI Mohawks on the Hilltops.

A win would give the organization its 18th national title.

Kickoff at SMF Field in Saskatoon is 1:00pm.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies scored 35 points in the second half, including 20 in the fourth quarter to keep their season alive, as they downed the Regina Rams 38-37 in the Queen City.

Jarvis James scored the winning touchdown for the Huskies with just 20 seconds left in the game.

Wynyard's Lance Bashutsky had four kick returns for 99 yards, as well as four and a half tackles defensively, and two pass break-ups in the win.

As the fourth seed in the Canada West, the Huskies now travel to Calgary for the conference quarter-finals.

In their two regular season contests, Calgary beat Saskatchewan by a combined 103-34.

Humboldt's Kelly Bates and the Simon Fraser Clan were seeking their first win of the season, as they traveled to Arcata, California to play - for Bates - the fittingly named Humboldt State Jacks.

The Clan got down late in the first quarter 14-0, and the game derailed from there, as they fell 57-0, dropping their record to 0-7 on the year.

Simon Fraser is back at home this week, as they host the Central Washington Wildcats on Friday night.
