For the second year in a row, the Bellevue/Wakaw Tropics took second place at the provincial high school boys volleyball championships.

Set in Warman and Osler, the Tropics were looking to overcome a loss to Oxbow in last year's final.

The Tropics went 3-1 in the round robin, defeating Moose Jaw Cornerstone, St. Brieux and Osler, before falling to Oxbow in two sets to finish the pool in third.

In the quarter-finals, Bellevue/Wakaw bounced back from losing the first set to defeat Wilkie in three sets. They then went on to knock off the host VCA team in two sets.

Meeting Oxbow in the final again, a close first set saw Oxbow win 25-22. The Tropics bounced back in the middle set, winning 25-14, before Oxbow claimed gold in the third set, 15-7.

It is the third straight year that the Tropics picked up a medal, with the two silvers and a bronze in 2014.

St. Brieux lost all four games, missing the playoffs.

In the 1A tournament, Annaheim was looking to defend their title in Kahkewistahaw.

After going 3-1 in the round robin, the Rebels drew a tough match in the quarter-finals against the host team, who they lost to in the regional final the week prior.

The Rebels won the first set, but lost the next two in close fashion to lose in the quarters.

Kahkewistahaw went on to win the championship over Vanguard.

Middle Lake and Cudworth were also competing at the tournament. The Avengers lost to Cut Knife in the quarter-finals, while Cudworth did not make the playoffs.
