Humboldt's Brianne Theisen-Eaton would likely want to be in a higher position in the overall standings of the heptathlon in Rio at the Games but the Humboldt Collegiate graduate is within medal distance.

Heading into Saturday's three events the 27 year old is in 6th spot, she is 186 points back of Britain's Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Theisen-Eaton finished in 6th position in her 110 metre hurdle event to earn herself 1097 points to open the Games.

She was 6th going into the high jump, her 5th place rank in that event picked her up 1150 points. Her clearance of 1.86 metres was a season's best.

Her shot-put throw of 13.35 metres was eighth best, she remained in 5th after that event.

Going into the day's final test, the 200 metres Theisen-Eaton earned 963 points with her time of 24.18.

The long jump gets underway at 8:45 Saturday morning, that leaves a large gap between the javelin at 5pm and the 800 metres to close it off at 7:50pm.
