Sask Sport has named Humboldt's Brianne Theisen-Eaton as the organization's Athlete of the Month for March.

The 27 year-old Humboldt Collegiate Institute graduate was nominated by Saskatchewan Athletics following her record breaking performance at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.

Theisen-Eaton put up 4,881 points to claim the pentathlon gold medal in thrilling fashion. Trailing the leader by over 100 points heading into the final event, the polished runner made up the necessary ground to snatch the gold away. The point total was a Canadian record for the five sport event.

Theisen-Eaton is now preparing for the Canadian Senior Championships, which are also the Olympic Trials for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Theisen-Eaton is also the reigning Sask Sport Female Athlete of the Year.

Her husband, Ashton Eaton(pictured) claimed the gold medal as well for the United States in the heptathlon at the Indoor Championships.

Theisen-Eaton is usually a heptathlete but the indoor event can't accommodate all the sports, the same can be said for Eaton who is the world record holder in the decathlon.
