Humboldt's Brianne Theisen-Eaton has began her quest for gold in Rio.

The 27 year-old heptathlete sits in 5th spot after two of the disciplines seven events.

She finished in 6th position in her 110 metre hurdle event to earn herself 1097 points.

She was 6th going into the high jump, she finished in 5th place in that event. Her clearance of 1.86 metres was a season's best.

After the two events the HCI graduate has 2151 points, the leader is at 2264.

The shot put is up next, that begins at 5:35 Saskatchewan time Friday evening.
