Brad Lauer out of Humboldt has taken the head coaching position for the Edmonton Oil Kings this upcoming season.

Lauer started his hockey career in Humboldt playing minor hockey. 

He later moved from Humboldt to Notre Dame when he was 14 to play his last year of Midget Hockey. 

Lauer was listed by the Regina Pats and afterward was drafted by the New York Islanders.

After 16 years of playing hockey, Lauer got into coaching.

The Humboldt native has been an assistant coach in the NHL for 10 years.
