With a record of six wins and just one loss, Delores Syrota and her Wadena based curling team are once again provincial Masters champions.

Syrota defeated five-time champion Merle Kopach in Sunday's final by a 7-5 margin to capture the title for a second straight year.

Their only loss of the tournament came in their second round robin game.

The team of Syrota, Bev Krasowski, Donna Liebrecht and Sylvia Broad advanced to the national championship, which begins April 1 in BC.

They will enter the Canadian championship as defending champions, having won the 60+ event in 2017.

Anderson also off to nationals

L-R: Eugene Hritzuk, Colin Coben, Verne Anderson, Daryl Eddingfield

Syrota's rink wasn't the only crew out of the Wadena Curling Club that booked a ticket to BC for nationals.

Verne Anderson, who plays second for Eugene Hritzuk's Saskatoon team will represent Saskatchewan on the men's side after Hritzuk's foursome posted a perfect record at provincials.

In the final, Hritzuk edged out Peter Thiele of Regina with a 7-6 in extra ends.

For Anderson, it is his fifth career provincial Masters championship, to go along with four career Senior championships.

He won the Canadian title in 2014 along with Hritzuk.
