Another 60 minute battle between the Humboldt Broncos and Battlefords North Stars led to extra time on Tuesday night.

The Broncos visited Battlefords for the fourth meeting of the season between the Olympic Buildings Division rivals.

Battlefords got the scoring started 5:36 into the game when Chaseton Braid scored his 8th goal of the season.

After the Broncos weathered the quick Stars start, Jaxon Joseph evened the game late in the second period with his 11th tally of the season.

Joseph would score his second goal in just over three minutes of game time early in the third period to give the Broncos a 2-1 edge.

SJHL leading scorer Layne Young tied the game 2-2 four minutes later, eventually sending the game to overtime where Troy Gerein ended it just over one minute in for Battlefords.

Head Coach Darcy Haugan said post-game that he was pleased with his team.

"I thought we played very well. Shots on goal part way through the first were 9-3 for them, and then you go from there and we only give up 11 shots over the next 50 some minutes, we deserved a better fate," Haugan said. "Obviously another tough loss in overtime to the North Stars."

It was the second of five straight road games and seven overall in December for the Broncos.

"We have to be road warriors this month, but I'm really proud of our effort here again tonight," Haugan added. "If we play with this much structure we're eventually going to get on the right side of things here."

Tuesday's game marked the fourth straight time this season that the Stars and Broncos played out an extra session, with Battlefords taking all four games by the same 3-2 margin.

Parker Tobin started his second straight game for the Broncos, making 20 saves in the contest.

Humboldt will make the trek to Flin Flon on Friday for the first of two games against the Bombers before heading to Kindersley on Tuesday, December 12.

The next home game for the Broncos is December 15 against Nipawin.
