The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has announced it's award finalists for the 2015-16 regular season.

Each of the three divisions has a player nominated for the Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Defenseman of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Top Goaltender.

Weyburn goaltender Jack Burgart and LaRonge Ice Wolves' puckstopper Krys Joyce are the lone players with a pair of nominations each.

Both Burgart and Joyce are joined in the MVP race by North Battleford forward Igor Leonenko. The 20 year-old Santa Cruz, California native is second in league scoring behind Travis Mayan with 43 goals and 41 assists.

With Burgart and Joyce in the goaltender category is Notre Dame's Alex Thibadeau.

The nominees for the Player of the Year are Flin Flon's Alex Smith, he has 31 goals and 51 assists this year, that is third in league scoring. The league's fourth ranked scorer, Austin Calladine is a nominee as is Estevan's Darcy Deroose. A notable omission is last year's winner Travis Mayan. The Melfort Mustang 20 year-old has 45 goals, the league's top mark and 88 points, also the SJHL's best.

The Rookie of the Year is between Nipawin netminder Kristian Stead, the Stars' Layne Young and McKenzie Welke of the Yorkton Terriers.

The Defenseman of the Year is a five player battle, Eric Sinclair is the lone nominee from the Sher-Wood division. He is joined by the Battlefords' Connor Sych, Notre Dame's Peyton Hogan, Zach Douglas of the Estevan Bruins and Regan Seiferling of the Terriers.

Members of the media that follow the SJHL will vote for the winners and they will be announced at a later date.
