Winning six championships in a row for any team in any sport seems like an impossible task.

Well, the Saskatoon Hilltops did just that this past weekend as they defeated the Langley Rams 11-6 in the 2019 CJFL Canadian Bowl. The six-year dynasty is packed with talent from the local area.

Players from Watrous include defensive back Cole Dunham, fifth-year offensive lineman Ryder Klisowsky, and starting linebacker Brady Fossen. Humboldt's contributions are defensive back Jared Giddings, defensive lineman Jordan Seipp, offensive lineman Ethan Pasloski, linebacker Dawson Hering, and finally defensive lineman Tristan Hering.

In the first quarter of play, it was a scoreless effort by both teams. As for the second quarter, the Hilltops would finally get on the board with two field goals and a safety conceded by the Rams to make it 8-0 at the half.

The second half was where the Rams would try to mount a comeback with a touchdown and a missed two-point convert in the third. In the final frame, the Hilltops tacked on yet another field goal bringing the score to 11-6. The defense was led by the Defensive Player of the Game, Tristan Hering.  Hering registered a tackle, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble to seal it away for Saskatoon.

"We knew we had to rally up to help out our offense in this game and we did our best. It was a surprise to receive the honour of defensive MVP and to bring the sixth championship to the team, I couldn't think of any other way to wrap up my five years."

Hering is wrapping up his CJFL career along with Ryder Klisowsky as players are eligible for only five years. Next season the Saskatoon Hilltops will be searching for their seventh title in a row with a possibility of more local talent joining the blue and gold.
