In July, over 600 people filled the Elgar Petersen Arena, as the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame held it's annual induction banquet.

"The event was a huge success. Its one of those events that comes around very infrequently, and you're really excited to be able to host something of that magnitude," explained Mike Ulriksen, Events Manager for the City of Humboldt. "From a financial perspective, we did really well with that. We got to keep a large chunk of money here in the facility to support our needs."

The SHHOF requires funds from the event to be split amongst their organization, as well as a hockey facility supported by the host city.

Ulriksen stated that the funds staying locally will be split between arena upgrades and the Humboldt Broncos.

"We allocated half the proceeds to the Broncos to upgrade their change facility and do whatever they need to do with that. The other half is going to go towards continuing to upgrade our seating in the arena."

He added that the SHHOF committee was quite pleased with the warm response Humboldt gave the inductees.

"They were extremely excited about the turn out, and support for the inductees. They try and get as many local (inductees) as they can, and that's always a huge draw. They loved the facility and how everything went."

Next year, the induction ceremony will be held in Weyburn.
