On Saturday the Marysburg Royals senior baseball team will hold a one day tournament.

Long time player Curtis Strueby says they had a tournament about a decade ago and they are looking to revitalize that a little bit.

"We used to have our annual sports day out there but that kind of went by the wayside with the lack of teams and the drop in minor ball about 10 years ago but of course that has rebounded now and there is more teams and everything so we decided why not throw a little tournament together."

Arm River and Northeast will come play in the round robin that starts at 10 o'clock, a home run derby will go at 3pm, the last game is slated roughly for 4pm.

Strueby says this is a great chance to see a couple different squads than the usual clubs in the Saskatoon Senior Baseball League.

"We actually had four teams but Kindersley can't make it anymore so we're just going to go with three teams, just going to run a three team round robin so it should be fun."

Depending on how it goes, he hopes this could be the revitalization of an annual event.

"Yeah that's the goal, we thought this year we will just start small and try out a one day thing and get a couple teams and who knows maybe next year we can do it," Strueby lamented. "We don't know for sure, we are just going to play it by ear and see how this goes."
