While the tournament didn't go as well as they would have liked on the scoresheet at the Senior AA Western Canadian Baseball Championships, the Marysburg Royals certainly proved their tough small town Saskatchewan demeanor.

The Royals finished the tournament with a record of 0-3, all of which were one run losses - including their first, which came in a 12 inning loss to the Regina Trappers.

It took a walk off effort from both the Trappers, and the Royals' second opponent - the Calgary Canadians, who scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 1-0 victory.

In need of a win to keep their tournament hopes alive, the Royals took to the diamond against the host Baldur Regals.

After an early 1-0 lead, the bats went cool throughout the rest of the game, as Baldur managed a 2-1 victory.

The final game of the tournament for the Royals, scheduled against the St. James A's, was rained out, and not played due to it's insignificance towards the final standings.

Over three games, the Royals played lights out defensively, yielding just seven runs in total. It was the bats however that couldn't get the clutch hitting needed, as they mustered four runs.

Baldur defeated St. James 10-0 to capture the championship.

While not sporting the colours they would have preferred, Muenster's Nick Anderson, Bryce Rueve, and Logan Hofmann suited up at Westerns for the Midget AAA North West Pirates in Yorkton.

They opened up the tournament with a narrow 4-3 loss in a battle of Pirates, as they fell to North Winnipeg.

A bounce back effort in the second game saw them defeat the St. James A's by the same 4-3 margin.

From there though, the tournament fell off the tracks for the Pirates, as they dropped their final three games - a 7-3 loss to the host Parkland Expos, a 6-2 loss to BC's Parksville Royals, and in their finale they fell 9-2 to the St. Albert Cardinals from Alberta.

Parksville claimed the title with a 2-1 decision over St. Albert.
