It was a scorching start to the season for the Midget AAA Muenster Red Sox on Sunday.

The Red Sox took several trips around the base path in the first game and had dominant pitching all day long, as they swept the Swift Current 57's to open up the year.

Muenster capitalized on eight errors by Swift Current and led 8-1 through four innings. They scored 11 runs in the top of the seventh inning to run away with the game 19-2.

Logan Hofmann and Brody Frerichs crossed home plate four times each, with Hofmann, Jayden Huls and Rylan Marianchuk driving in two runs each. Frerichs, Kalvin Rueve, Mitchell McGrath, Thomas Bollefer and Braden Fleischhacker had the other RBI's.

Frerichs started game one, pitching three innings, allowing one run while striking out six batters. Bollefer took over in relief, allowing just one hit over three innings to earn the win.

The bats cooled down in game two for Muenster, but Hofmann proved almost unhittable in the game, striking out 12 batters while allowing just two hits over five innings.

Huls scored the go-ahead and game-winning run in the top of the seventh, to give the Red Sox the win, 3-2.

Drew Bauml earned the win in relief of Hofmann, pitching two innings.

The Red Sox will remain at home throughout May, opening up the home slate on Sunday, May 7 against the Northwest Pirates.
