The best Mosquito baseball team in Saskatchewan comes from Humboldt.

On Sunday, the AAA Humboldt Dodgers won the provincial championship, defeating the Saskatoon Screwballs 14-1.

The Dodgers played in Saskatoon's AAA league throughout the year and had a strong record all season long.

Tuesday morning, Carter Huls, Cam Marshak, Ty Dauvin, A.J. Paulsen and Landin Frank commented on their season and winning provincials.

Huls explained how the team was feeling after winning it all.

"Good, because that means that we are one of the best teams in Saskatchewan."

Marshak added that to be able to stand above even the bigger cities is special.

"It's pretty cool that we are the best in all of Saskatchewan, from a small city."

There was a common theme among where the boys get their inspiration on the diamond from.

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson received the most votes when asked who their favourite player was.

The Jays, naturally, were the majority response for favourite team, other than Paulsen, who says his Washington Nationals are going to win the World Series.

When asked if they were better than their brothers or sisters on the diamond, Huls and Marshak admitted that their older siblings have them beat.

Huls' brother Jayden plays for the AAA Midget Red Sox and will be playing for Saskatchewan at the upcoming Canada Games in Winnipeg. Marshak's brother Jett played for the Bantam Dodgers that won silver in Regina.

Jett Marshak completed his first year in Bantam, winning a silver medal at provincials.

Jett commented on the Bantam season on Tuesday morning as well.

The Dodgers rallied from a deficit to tie the gold medal game 8-8 before losing in heartbreaking fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Marshak says that it was a tough end to the season.

"It was tied and they walked it off on a ground out," he explained.

Marshak noted that it was a positive year.

"It was a good year. We played lots of games. We played some in the North Central Baseball League locally, and then some in the Saskatoon league as well as a couple tournaments."

The first-year Bantam is a shortstop and pitcher.
