Fifty-two medals over six days of competition has landed Prairie Central a fourth place finish at the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan.

Over 200 athletes represented the district across 11 different sports, including 24 athletes from Humboldt.

After a majority of medals won by Humboldt area athletes were on the track in the first half of the week, all the medals in the second half of the week came in the pool.

The second half medal count was led by Sam Fisher, who was participating in Special Olympics swimming events. Fisher won a whopping four gold medals individually, and added a silver medal in the final race of the competition, the 4x50m Freestyle Mixed Relay.

Sam Fisher (middle) won gold in the 100m Backstroke. Tia Zimmerman (left) took bronze.

Combining two Special Olympics swimmers with two swimmers from the Games roster, Fisher was joined by Jessica Ehr as well as Jay Eichorst and Garrett Brown in claiming the second place standing.
