Curtis Peck had a pair of goals as the Kindersley Klippers held on to defeat the Humboldt Broncos 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Peck's goals bookended the first period scoring, with Humboldt's Nick Shumlanski scoring his 14th goal of the season in between.

The Klippers took the 1-0 lead early as Peck found the back of the net just 36 seconds into the game.

Shumlanski's tying goal came six minutes later before Peck deposited his second goal with 1:32 remaining in the opening period.

Kindersley would score another late period goal in the second, as Devon Cyr scored shorthanded to give the Klippers a 3-1 lead.

The game didn't go without chances for the Broncos, who threw 30 shots on goal and had six power play opportunities, failing to score on any of their man advantages.

Parker Tobin made 32 saves in goal for Humboldt, who ended a three game winning streak with the loss.

The Broncos return to the Elgar Petersen Arena for a pair of meetings on the weekend. La Ronge visits Humboldt on Friday, while Flin Flon is in the city on Saturday.

Standings Stay Tight

There were four games on the ice in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League on Wednesday.

The middle of the overall standings stayed tight, as Weyburn defeated Notre Dame 4-2. That moved the Red Wings within one point of the Broncos for 6th, while keeping Humboldt one point behind the Hounds for 5th place.

Yorkton held down home ice to give Estevan a 3-1 loss, while Battlefords blasted Melfort on the road, 7-3.
