Jared Giddings had a pair of interceptions, including one for a touchdown, as the 9-man North football team routed the South 48-13 in the 32nd Annual Ed Henick Senior Bowl.

Giddings was joined by HCI Mohawks teammates Jacob Zimroz and Cody Weyland, as well as coach Tom Schwinghamer in the game, which pits the top players in the province against each other in 9, 6, and 12-man games.

It didn't take the North's offence long to make it's presence known - in fact - it took one play, as Delisle's Sam Michnik ripped off a long touchdown run for the game's first score.

Zimroz would find the endzone next for his first of two touchdowns, scoring on a two-yard stretch play to make it 13-0. Giddings would put the North up 20-0 in the second quarter after a slick over the shoulder interception, which he took 52 yards for the major.

The second half would see the North pull away with an all-around dominant performance.

Mohawks defensive lineman Cody Weyland had one sack, five tackles, and a pass knockdown in the game. He says they rallied around each other to give the North its second straight win over the South.

"It feels great. Everybody from the North worked hard all weekend, and we came together, made a great bond, and got the team win."

Zimroz echoed that thought, adding that without everyone in sync, accomplishments like his two touchdown game aren't possible.

"We can't do anything without the o-line and those are the guys that help out the most, so a big thanks to those guys."

With two interceptions, as well as a handful of tackles, Giddings was named MVP for the North.

Giddings receives his MVP award from U of S Huskies Head Coach Brian Towriss.

"Everyone on the defence played well, the whole team played well, and we couldn't have done it without everyone putting hard work in. It all paid off," he stated.

Giddings coupled his game MVP award with the top defensive back award for the North, which was presented to one player from all three games.

In the 6-man game, a pair of Watrous defensive linemen terrorized South quarterbacks Drayden Ukrainetz and Shawn Nixon, as Breshton Chow-Folden and Landon Schutte teamed up to disrupt several plays in the backfield.

The North took the game 22-8, and for his efforts, Chow-Folden was named MVP for the North team. Wynyard linebacker Thiessen Karakochuk was the player of the game for the South.

This was the fourth year of the new format, which sees three games played in one day, rather than just one game. It was the first time that either side of the province swept the three games, as the 12-man North squad earned a 53-29 win.

Two Humboldt officials were also invited to attend the Senior Bowl. Devin Leonard was a ref for the 6-man game, while Stephen Gray officiated the 12-man contest.

Chow-Folden receives his MVP from Towriss.

Karakochuk is presented with his MVP award from Regina Thunder Special Teams Coach Kevin Pierce.
