Baseball players will be able to fine tune their skills in Muenster this summer.

The first Muenster Powder Coating and Design Baseball Camp is set to take place July 4-6 at Jubilee Memorial.

Open to players in Mosquito and Peewee categories, organizer Justin Hofmann says that it's a chance to help develop young players.

"There is a good group of kids in the Mosquito and Peewee age group in the Humboldt and Muenster area," he said. "It's a good opportunity to give back to the game I grew up in and also a chance for kids to do something during the day in the summer."

Hofmann added that they limit age involvement because Mosquito is when players typically start to really understand the game, and it is an important time in development.

The three days are structured for learning from 9:00am to 4:00pm, which will enable players to take in 18 hours of instruction.

"We're going to go through all basic skill levels. Running, hitting, fielding and going through the basic points of baseball," said Hofmann.

The camp will also be growing the game in other ways, with participation from the Midget team as well.

"The instructors are myself and Chad Hofmann, who is the coach of the Midget AAA team in Muenster," said Hofmann. "There will also be players from the Midget team as well."

Having players currently in the game get involved was an important aspect of deciding to host the camp, according to Hofmann.

"That was one of my main goals of the camp was to get those guys helping out with the camp," he explained. "It's a good thing for them to learn how to work with kids and help them later on in life and also give back to the same kind of thing they went to when they were younger."

While the deadline to register is June 25, Hofmann advises earlier sign-up, as they have already had a high number of entries to the camp to date.
