For the first time since 1979, the Muenster Cougars will have a girls curling team represent at provincials.

They had to take the long route to get there after losing in the 'A' semi-finals 8-4 to Ituna, but it was a full bounce back performance for the Muenster four.

Following a narrow 8-7 win over Tisdale they downed Allan 10-6 and the host Strasbourg Vikings 7-6 to advance to the provincial championships on the 'B' side.

Ituna took the 'A' side with a 9-2 win over the Vikings.

Strasbourg was also the site of the mixed team regional championship.

There, Naicam was the lone school in the area to qualify after they fell to Debden in the 'A' final before defeating Rosthern to claim the 'B' side title.

The HCI Mohawks also competed in Strasbourg but fell 7-2 to Carrot River and 12-1 to Rosthern.

Muenster hosted the boys championship for Region C where the host Cougars found their way to provincials through the 'B' side.

After losing their first game 6-5 to Arborfield the Cougars rattled off four straight wins to earn their ticket to provincials. They downed Martensville 9-3, Foam Lake 7-6, edged Arborfield 6-4 in a re-match and then defeated Canwood 8-6 in the 'B' final.

Claiming the 'A' side championship was Colonsay with a 9-2 win over Canwood. They also defeated Foam Lake 6-5 and Prince Albert Carlton 10-3 prior to the final.

Provincial championships will be played out March 4-5 with the boys competing in Assiniboia and the girls and mixed teams battling it out in Meadow Lake.
