In junior hockey if this year isn't perhaps your year, looking to the future may be the best move forward.

The Humboldt Broncos took a step in that direction Tuesday sending highly touted rear guard Greg Moro to the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Moro touched on his two plus seasons in Humboldt as he prepared to join the RBC Cup hosts.

"The community involvement we've had the opportunity to do, for myself through Big Brothers Big Sisters that was an excellent thing to do. It was a great experience, the town was unreal to me and it felt like home from the moment I stepped here and I continued to grow from there."

Moro arrived in Humboldt prior to the 2013-14 season following his AAA midget days in his hometown of Edmonton. Since then he played 127 regular season games plus 14 more in the post season. Overall he had 12 goals, 35 assists, that while playing nearly 30 minutes a game against other teams top lines.

Moro was highly coveted by a number of teams looking for a key shut down defender but in the end the RBC Cup hosts were the sweepstakes winners, something he is quite happy with.

"It was definitely hard, I had a few tears looking back on all the memories I've had in the past two and a half years with all the community and the team and the organization has done for me. Especially leaving billets and life long friends, it was hard to leave but at the same time I am looking forward to the new start, I get to go to compete and try and help them win a national championship."

The Broncos are in Nipawin Tuesday to begin life without their star defenseman, you can hear the action on the radio starting with the pregame show at 7:15, puck drop is 7:30 with KMK Sales Broncos' hockey.

The early indication is the struggles will grow with the green and gold as the second half nears but even Moro agrees the Broncos will be alright in the end.

"It will be great for both organizations, I think it was time to move on and get a fresh start. That being said there is still a few strong players there in Humboldt and the guys have been working hard lately and I am sure they will be able to turn something around at the end of the season and get a little momentum going into next year."

The trade is for future considerations, no announcement of who the Broncos will get in return next season until likely after May's national junior "A" championship.
