Carter Tarnowski threw two touchdown passes and Hayden Reeme ran for three scores, as the HCI Mohawks cruised past the Tisdale Tornados 48-7 on Friday.

Head Coach Cory Popoff was impressed with how his team played.

"We asked for their best effort for the entire four quarters, and at the end of the day, they did exactly that," he said. "As a team, we are starting to figure things out, and this big win at home will certainly help our confidence."

The Mohawks got things started on their first offensive drive when Dakota Hoffman took a short pass from Tarnowski and turned it into a 44 yard touchdown, dashing his way past several tacklers.

Humboldt would go up 14-0 shortly after following a 27 yard run from Hayden Reeme.

The second quarter saw plenty more points for HCI, starting with a 25 yard touchdown pass from Tarnowski to Cole Grace that made it 21-0.

Reeme would find the endzone for his second score on an eight yard run.

Following his own interception, Grace made it 32-0 for the Mohawks, connecting on a 15 yard field goal before Reeme capped off the half, taking in a one yard touchdown run following a Tisdale fumble.

The offence slowed down in the second half, as both teams began to rotate in more players, but Tisdale finally found the scoreboard late in the quarter to make it 41-7 Mohawks.

HCI's final trip to the endzone came in the 4th quarter, when quarterback Cody Bergermann found Logan Stumborg for a 25 yard touchdown after Stumborg broke a pair of tackles to get free.

An all-around effort would lead the Mohawks to victory, with defensive back Kaleb Pulice hauling in a pair of interceptions, contributing to four takeaways for the Humboldt defence.

With the win, the Mohawks improve to 2-2 on their season, and will head to Melfort on October 13 for their next game.

Popoff noted that the Comets will once again be a stiff test for the young Mohawks.

"They took advantage of some mistakes in our first meeting, and so after breaking things down, we are looking to bring a better overall game to them this time around."

Humboldt hosts La Ronge to end the regular season on October 20. A win in that game would secure the Mohawks a berth in the provincial quarterfinals.
