The HCI Mohawks boys soccer team continue to undermine the rankings.

Seeded 4th at provincials, the Mohawks started Friday with a 4-0 win over Luther College of Regina.

Then, Humboldt came from behind in the second half to knock off the defending champion and top ranked Sacred Heart Saints of Yorkton.

Trailing 2-1 at the break, the Mohawks scored four unanswered in the second half to down the tournament hosts 5-2.

The win will lead HCI into rare territory - a provincial soccer championship appearance.

Humboldt's boys team has only ever appeared one other time, which came in 2009 when they fell to John Paul II Collegiate of North Battleford.

The Mohawks won provincial bronze in 2013.

HCI will have a chance to get their first boys soccer provincial title on Saturday at 2:00pm when they meet JPII in the final.

Humboldt was the lowest ranked team at regionals in Wilcox on October 21. All they did there was win the regional championship.

The Mohawks also won the Horizon league title, downing the previously unbeaten Middle Lake Avengers.

Other HCAA teams set to battle for provincial gold include the Avengers, who have blown their way through the first two rounds, winning by a combined 26-2.

They will meet a familiar foe on home turf Saturday afternoon when they take on the Lake Lenore Lancers.

Middle Lake edged out Lake Lenore 4-3 in the regional final.

Game time in Middle Lake will be 2:00pm.

The Avengers girls team is also seeking a return to the top, when they meet top ranked Warman for gold.

Warman downed Middle Lake 1-0 in the regional final.
