Darcy Kayseas hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, as the Fishing Lake Mariners and Rosebud Royals played to a 2-2 tie in the Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League.

The Royals got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, with the Mariners responding in the top of the second to cut the lead in half.

It became a pitchers duel the rest of the way as Rosebud's James Holowaty and Dusty Keshane of the Mariners kept each side of the scoreboard until Kayseas' homer in the seventh.

The game, played in Wadena, was the first league game in the town since the mid-1990's. The Mariners return to Wadena on Thursday night to take on the Wildcats.

At the RBC Cup in Lloydminster, the West Kelowna Warriors defeated the previously unbeaten Trenton Golden Hawks 4-3 in a shootout. It was the first time a game at the RBC Cup had been decided in a shootout.

The shootout was imposed for the first time at the tournament last year. Prior to that, teams tied after regulation in the round robin would play continuous overtime until someone scored.

In the other game, the Brooks Bandits edged the Lloydminster Bobcats, also by a 4-3 tally.
