The HCI Mohawks boys curling team claimed the Horizon Central district championship on Friday after playing in five games.

Humboldt started the day losing their opener to Foam Lake, which forced them to win all remaining games in order to claim the title.

They began their quest with a win over Strasbourg before downing Foam Lake in a rematch on the 'B' side.

The final requires the 'B' side winner to win two games to become district champions.

After Humboldt won Game 1, the second game was scheduled for Saturday morning, but both teams said "play on", and the Mohawks were able to walk away with the win and the crown.

HCI's team of Braden Fleischhacker, Adam Eichorst, Cole Bells and Jay Eichorst advanced to regionals, which will take place in Wadena on March 2-3.

In the girls draw, Foam Lake claimed the district championship, similarily defeating Wadena two times in the final.

Both teams will be joined by Muenster, who became the third qualifier to regionals.

The mixed bracket saw Foam Lake go unbeaten, defeating Lanigan in the final. Both teams moved on to regionals, which along with the girls draw, will be played in Foam Lake.
