Following a short break for Christmas and New Years, the Long Lake Hockey League returns to action with two games on Wednesday night.

The Lanigan Pirates host the LeRoy Braves at 8:00pm, while the Wynyard Monarchs are at home, welcoming the Davidson Cyclones for an 8:30pm faceoff.

Lanigan has struggled through the first half, with a record of 1-10-1. LeRoy is one spot ahead of the Pirates in the standings, entering the January schedule at three wins and eight losses.

Wynyard currently sits third in their first year in the league after transferring from the Highway Hockey League. The Monarchs are 6-6-1, while Davidson is fourth overall at 3-7-1.

Offensively, the Pirates are led by Lee Gusikoski, who has 19 points on the year. LeRoy's top duo of Rylan Korte and Neil Landry enter play with 26 and 24 points respectively.

For Wynyard, Brett Leffler is the team's top scorer, with 16 goals and 25 points. The Cyclones are charged by Tory Allan, who has 27 points in just nine games played.

The league's top two teams, Watrous and Drake, are off for a few more days.

Watrous, the reigning league and provincial 'B' champions, return on Saturday in Lanigan, while Drake is back on the ice on January 12, hosting Waldheim in an interconference match-up with the Fort Carlton league.
