The season is over at the Humboldt Curling Club but there is still still plenty of local teams in action on the pebbled ice this week.

The Canadian Mixed Doubles championships will begin Thursday in Saskatoon. Humboldt's Dustin Kalthoff is in the field, he earned his way there with partner Sherry Anderson but with her senior provincial women's win Kalthoff had to find a new teammate. Joining him will be Marliese Kasner.

They open the 32 team event at 11 o'clock Thursday.

The final is slated for 4pm Sunday.

The 2016 Tim Horton's Provincial Mixed Curling Championships start Thursday in Martensville.

Naicam's Denis Sunderland is competing, so is St. Front's Scott Sunderland. The Jamie Regier rink out of Watrous is in the field as is Humboldt's Kaitlyn Bowman. She plays third for Martensville based foursome Corey Martens.

The draw begins at 9 o'clock Thursday with the playoffs set for 12:30 Sunday, the final is 4pm.

There is also local flavour at the 2016 Optimist Under-18 International Curling Championships.

The Mitchell Dales rink out of Wadena will travel to Edmonton for that bonspiel which also begins on Thursday.

Humboldt's Braden Fleischacker is a member of the Dales rink.

We will follow along with all the local teams all weekend long.
