A pair of local ball players have earned bronze medals.

Muenster's Rebecca Ilg was part of Team Saskatchewan, who claimed third place at the Peewee Girls Western Canadian Championship in Kamloops, BC.

Ilg and her Saskatchewan teammates defeated Manitoba 10-5 for bronze.

The team went 2-1 in the round robin, beating Manitoba and BC, while losing to Alberta. The loss to Alberta served as a tiebreaker that placed them in the bronze game.

In O'Leary, Prince Edward Island, Dawson Bender of Bruno played for Saskatchewan at the Under 18 Fast Pitch Nationals.

Team Sask went 4-2 in the round robin, with wins over Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

In the playoff round, they went 1-2, playing three different Ontario teams, ultimately coming away with the third place standing.

Bender had a strong tournament, leading the team in hitting, with a batting average of .370. That included a two run home run in the round robin, with a total of six runs batted in.

At the Under 21 Baseball Nationals in Ottawa and Gatineau, three former Muenster Red Sox helped to represent Saskatchewan.

Bryce Rueve, Adam Gerwing and Parker McRae suited up for Team Sask, who ended the tournament in fourth place.

They lost to St. Thomas of Ontario in an extra inning in the bronze medal game.
