The Lanigan Lazers are hoping for a successful start to the 2020 Mini-Season.

On September 28, the Lanigan Lazers Football Team hit the field for their first practice. With the Lazers having a lengthy break amid the Pandemic, fitness has been a main focus for the team.

"We're working on the fitness level of our players and I think there are only a few weeks in the season. Hopefully, by the end of it we've gotten everyone ready to go," said Ryan Wilson, head coach of the Lazers.

The Lazers are in a Mini-League with St. Brieux and a young HCI Mohawks squad. With a balanced team of leadership, speed, and size, Wilson believes that the Lazers can go toe to toe with the other two teams in their league.

"We talked with the team and we all agreed this would be a good year for some development and to make progress for your young players."

Like every other football program in the area, coaches are wearing masks and maintaining their distance from players. Equipment and facilities are being thoroughly sanitized before, during, and after practice as well.

Lanigan opened the season on Thursday afternoon against the St. Brieux Crusaders with a 54-34 victory.
