After a red hot start to 2017 that saw the Broncos win their first three games including a dragon slaying in Nipawin they have become cold as ice.

On Tuesday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena, Humboldt flat lined en route to a 3-0 blanking against the Kindersley Klippers, a club that has now taken four of five games from the Broncos this season.

"We're beyond the point of peeling paint off the wall, we had a good conversation with the guys," Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko puffed after running from the dressing room to the press box for the post game show. "We just know we have to get a lot better, that's what it comes down too."

Coming off two straight losses on the road on the weekend Humboldt was hoping for some home cooking, the flame wouldn't flicker.

Carson Pickett scored on a first period five-on-three man advantage making it 1-0 after one, Brandon Wagner and Jake Gerbner also beat Garrett Mason in the second period as Kindersley coasted to the win.

"I think the big thing that for everyone in that room, don't look next to you or expect someone to do it for you," Klimosko continued. "It's got to be a full team effort, I don't think there is one guy that you could have said they had a good game tonight."

Garrett Mason stopped 24/27 in his 14th loss of the year, Justin Close turned aside 25 for his fourth shut-out of the year. The Broncos have failed to hit the score sheet just twice this season, both against the Klippers.

Special teams favoured Kindersley as well, they were 2/6 with the man advantage and Humboldt didn't score on eight chances. The Klippers at one point were 50 percent with their PP efficiency.

Next up for the green and gold is a weekend home and home with the Yorkton Terriers beginning Friday at the EPA. Yorkton is now just four points back of the Broncos for fifth overall in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League standings.

Klimosko mentioned that they don't really have time to dwell on their slumber.

"We still have some time to figure it out but it's got to start now, it's got to start tonight. We've got to do some individual reflections as to how you are playing and let's get back at it. That's the best part is we're back at it Friday and Saturday against a team we need to win some games against."

Both games are 7:30 puck drops. Call 682-5575 or visit the Broncos website for purchase details.

Elsewhere Tuesday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Melfort was thumped 8-2 in Flin Flon, the Battlefords outscored LaRonge 5-2, Nipawin defeated Weyburn 4-1 and the Terriers knocked off Notre Dame 6-3.
