This holiday season, when most hockey teams take a few weeks off, will see the Humboldt Pee Wee Broncos ramp up their competition, as they travel to Bemidji Minnesota for the Paul Bunyan International Classic. 

The team left on Thursday, December 27th on a bus trip south of the border for the high-end Pee Wee tournament consisting of 16 teams. The Broncos are joined by Dryden Paper Kings from Ontario as the two Canadian teams in the tournament.

The teams are split up into four pools consisting of four teams each with the top team in each pool after round robin play advancing to the Championship Bracket on Sunday. The second, third, and fourth place team will be slotted into consolation playoff brackets.

Joining the Humboldt Broncos in their bracket is the Grand Forks Sea Wolves from North Dakota, Virginia Minnesota AA Pee Wee team, and the Pee Wee team from Theif River Falls, Minnesota. 

The Broncos will take on the Grand Forks Sea Wolves on December 28th at 12:00 pm followed by Virginia, MN at 7:00. Their final round robin game will take place Saturday, December 29th against Theif River Falls, MN at 8:00 AM with playoffs to follow on Sunday, December 30th. 

In addition to game action, The weekend will feature a Skills Challenge consisting of three parts: a shootout and goalie competition that run simultaneously, and the fastest skater competition. Individual prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners of each challenge.

This is the 30th year running for the Paul Bunyan International Classic.
