The Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team held their annual Mini Meet Friday.

Head Coach Leisl Lefebrve Explains what the Mini Meet is.

"The Mini Meet is a meet that we hold just within our club. We do some races that our program which is our very first year swimmers who are just learning how to swim, some of the things that they do in practice isn't something they would do at a meet. So one full-length flutter kick with a board, you would never get to do that in a meet."

Lefebvre goes on to explain what the purpose is:

"Suddenly instead of a practice where you have 20 swimmers in the water and a few coaches and it's kinda quiet, you end up with 70 swimmers on the deck and whistles and horns and parents and clapping and it's a lot louder and bigger than they expected it to be. So this helps them prepare for that."

The Humboldt Hammerheads host the first swim meet of the year on Saturday June 17 at the Humboldt Aquatic Centre.
