The Humboldt Broncos' training camp took place over the weekend with over 80 skaters looking to land a spot on the Broncos' roster for the upcoming season.

The skaters were split up into four teams with each team playing the other three over the course of the weekend.

After the three games each team would play, Head Coach Nathan Oystrick and his group of coaches and scouts dwindled the roster down to 40 for the Green and Gold game, which took place on Sunday night.

The top 40 Green and Gold game was a tightly contested, high energy game with the Gold team coming out on top 3-2 to win the Elgar Petersen Cup, The trophy given out to the victorious team in the final training camp game.

Oystrick said, 'Definitely the main thing was compete level, compete level and details,' when asked to comment on the outline of what the coaches were looking for from their players. He added, " Yes, there is an individual part to this, but there's also a team part. We want to make sure the guys are playing the right way and playing together. If they're trying to go end to end the whole night and doing things on your own, your probably not gonna have a good chance to make this hockey club. It's a team game."

The work for Coach Oystrick continues as he and his staff now have to get the team down to around 30 players during the week before the Broncos head to Peace River, Alberta for 2 exhibition games to kick off the preseason.
