The Mixed Broomball Provincials tournament was hosted by Humboldt and Lanigan and twelve teams from across the province were welcomed this year. Three men and three women of varying ages must be on the ice at all times in mixed competition.

Pool 'A" included Wolfpack from the Odessa area, the Viscount Bulldogs, and the Estevan Purple Cobras.

Pool 'B' welcomed the Saskatoon Kings, the Silver Foxes, and the Bruno Brew Crew.

Pool 'C' consisted of the Ice Devils, the Crazy Knights, and Big River.

The La Ronge Snipers, Weezilz and the Bruno Youngins made up Pool 'D'.

Over the course of the weekend, the teams competed at both the Elgar Peterson Arena in Humboldt and in Lanigan. Director of the tournament, Ray Bender, says it was another great weekend for broomball.

"There was a lot of fun-filled action all weekend. A lot of good games; they were all close. There were lots of fast-action games and it was good to see!" says Bender.

The Bronze medal game took place early Sunday afternoon in Humboldt and saw the La Ronge Snipers come out the winners, beating the Wolfpack team from Odessa, 2-1 in overtime.

The Saskatoon Kings will play the Crazy Knights to determine the Gold and Silver medals Sunday afternoon.

Bender notes that In the last two years, there have been Mixed Nationals, and the Regina Ice Devils won the right to compete in Regina this year, after winning provincials last year. This year's gold medalists will go to next year's Nationals in Ontario.
