With a chance to lock up fifth position overall and their 30th win, the Broncos looked like they'd rather be anywhere else than in Wilcox Friday night.

The hometown Hounds took advantage of a flat-footed Broncos team taking 3-0 and 5-0 leads into the intermissions.

Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko said they simply weren't ready to play.

"It definitely wasn't a team that was ready to go tonight. It wasn't good, I don't know if you can blame myself and Darcy(Haugan) for that but I think it's on pour players as well. It wasn't a good game, it started from the preparation this morning all the way to the afternoon coming down here, it just didn't feel like we were ready to clinch a hockey game."

Colby Brandt, Nick Rein and Chaz Smedsrud scored for Notre Dame in the first, Alex Hanson and Conor MacLean beat Garrett Mason in the second.

Chris Van Os-Shaw scored a pair of late short handed goals to make it respectable but overall, the Broncos were never in the game.

"You learn one key lesson and that's being ready for a hockey game, that's the only lesson you are going to learn from tonight," Klimosko continued to steam. "It wasn't good, we learned the hard way. You hate to have to learn something like this so late in the season but it goes to show we've got a veteran team but an inexperienced team."

Mason, who was named goaltender of the month for February after the game allowed five goals on 20 shots, he was relieved by Carter Seminuk in the third. Seminuk, seeing his first action since January 21st stopped all seven shots he saw. Benjamin Patt turned aside 16/18 in the Hounds net.

Notre Dame did score once on the power-play, they had four chances, the Broncos couldn't generate anything on three PP's.

The victory for Notre Dame drew them into a tie with the green and gold for fifth but the Broncos own the tie-breaker, they also have one more game to play than the Hounds, Humboldt's destiny remains in their own hands, a point and they will clinch.

The same teams will meet in Humboldt Saturday night at 7:30, the Broncos still have Melfort coming to town on Tuesday.

Elsewhere Friday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Nipawin crushed Melfort 6-1, Flin Flon exploded for an 11-4 win in LaRonge, Yorkton downed Melville 4-1, the Stars blanked Kindersley 6-0 and Estevan clipped the Wings 3-2.

One playoff series is decided, the 8th place Wings will take on the 9th placed Klippers.
