The final step to HOOPLA and the 2016 provincial high school basketball championship is set to get underway Friday, as regionals take place.

Following conference playdowns, seeds were determined for regionals, with the top four teams eligible to host.

One of those teams was the HCI Senior Girls, who were seeded fourth and will welcome in Assiniboia, Unity and Saskatoon Christian Friday night.

The Mohawks take centre stage for the first game at 6:00pm when they meet Unity. Assiniboia and Saskatoon Christian will play following that.

Winners of the two semi-finals will meet in Saturday's regional final at 12:00pm, with the losing sides playing a consolation game prior to that at 10:00am.

HCI's Senior Boys team will head down to Weyburn for their playdowns. Their first game pits them against Meadow Lake.

Other area schools hosting regionals include the Middle Lake Avengers, who will have a packed slate of games as they host both boys and girls playdowns.

St. Brieux will welcome boys 2A teams, while Wynyard and Clavet will host on the girls side.
