For the second straight year a Broncos' coach has topped the players in their annual shoot-out that was held on Saturday night following Humboldt's 3-1 loss to the Weyburn Red Wings.

Last year Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko was the last shooter standing, this year it was first year Head Coach and General Manager Darcy Haugan taking first place.

The annual competition is a fundraiser for the club. On Friday night the players were all auctioned off with the purchasers having a chance to win a portion of the proceeds back.

This year's auction was a huge success with just over $18,000 in player purchases.  With Haugan's victory, Sean Brandow and Paul Jefferson collected $2707.50.

Coming in second place was rookie sniper Daniel McKitrick. He helped Bob Korol take home $1,805. The third place shooter was Broncos' captain Logan Schatz. The 18 year-old was purchased by his mom Bonnie Schatz and his billet, Michelle Unger. They will split $902.50.

Each goalie was also purchased based on three different save percentage rates. Linsey Smith was the correct bidder for Carter Seminuk, Smith won $1805. Al Bergen was the successful bidder on Ryan LaRochelle's percentage also worth $1,805.

Overall the event was a huge success for the club, the Broncos want to thank all the bidders and fans for their support in making this annual auction one of their most profitable ever.

The Broncos are now off until Friday night when they visit the Melfort Mustangs, the game can be heard on your radio with the pre-game show of KMK Sales' Broncos' hockey beginning at 7:15, face-off is 7:30. The Mustangs return to the Elgar Petersen Arena on Saturday night to close the season series between the two rivals.
