It turned out to be a pretty solid weekend for Humboldt Curling Club foursome Aaron Gaudreau, Jason Schlachter, Tom Johnson and Joel McDonald at the 2016 Travelers Curling Club championship down at the Weyburn Curling Club.

The HCC group finished with a record of 5-3 including their last defeat, a 9-5 loss in the final to Saskatoon's Kory Kohuch Monday afternoon.

The way the bonspiel started it didn't look like the Humboldt group would even be a presence but after dropping two of their first three games they reeled off four straight victories.

Sunday started with a 6-5 win over Adam Himmelspach of Lampman, they then outscored Rosetown's Lyle Slocombe 6-4 That got them into the tiebreakers Monday morning, there they disposed of Chris Krasowski 9-4.

That put them into the semi-final against Weyburn's Ryan Skjerdal that they used a single in the eighth end to edge 7-6 landing the foursome into the final where they came up short coming up in second place.

The provincial and national Travelers events provide club based teams an opportunity to curl and enjoy the spirit of curling hospitality and fellowship all in the same event according to the CurlSask website.
