Plenty of shots, a missed opportunity late in the third, and a nailbiter finish in overtime were the ingredients as the Humboldt Broncos cooked up their 4th win in a row Wednesday vs the Melville Millionaires.

Although the shots would depict a scene where high-grade scoring chances were frequent. That wasn't necessarily the case in Wednesday's game. Both teams boxed out impressively and the litany of shots came mostly from the outside lanes. However, let's not deter the performances from both goaltenders. When the puck found its way into dangerous scoring areas, they were there to make the save.

Rayce Ramsay, a Humboldt Broncos draft pick in 2016, who has been up with the Kamloops Blazers throughout their training camp, returned to the team and played his first career SJHL game for Humboldt. Ramsay was cool, calm and collective in between the pipes stopping 47 of 48 shots faced.

The Broncos have opened up the scoring the past three games and have won all three. This partially would not be the case as Daniel Liberty of the Melville Millionaires would tack on the first goal with 4 seconds left in the opening frame. Goals that late in periods can often hamper a team moving forward into the proceeding period.

Once the second period got underway the Broncos were keen to find the equalizer.

They would find it halfway through the middle frame. Great work along the boards by Chase Felgeuiras would lead the puck to Owen Guenter behind the net. Guenter would then walk out in front and tuck home his own rebound for his second goal of the season.

To the third, they went with the score knotted up at one apiece.

Bryson Cecconi, still looking for his first point of the year, would make a fantastic play, followed by a Patrik Stefan moment. (YouTube Patrik Stefan for clarity).

As the puck was entering the attacking zone with Cecconi barreling down on it. Melville goaltender Colby Entz would attempt to skate out of his own net to retrieve the puck. This is where Cecconi would out muscle the defender, lift the goalie's stick and have the entire net to guide the puck in. As they say, sometimes the puck bounces your way, sometimes it doesn't. This time it definitely did not. Cecconi would have the puck bounce on him and then manage to hit the post before a defenseman cleared the puck out of danger. Fortunately for him, this would not be the last time his name was called.

The first 3 on 3 overtime for this year's Humboldt Broncos brought fast, back and forth scoring opportunities as one could imagine. And it took four minutes for the right opportunity to come. Reid Arnold's, whose quiet but savvy play has been evident throughout the early portions of the season, was a factor in the game winner. He entered the attacking zone 1 on 1 with a Millionaire's defenseman. Instead of trying to make a move on his own, he held up just inside the blue line, fed a perfect cross-ice pass to, guess who, Bryson Cecconi, who redeemed himself and put the overtime winner above the glove of Colby Entz.

A suiting finish for Cecconi, who will certainly not live down the open net gaff anytime soon, but he absolutely can, and should, laugh it off.

With 4 wins in a row, the Broncos will try and make it 5 when they head back to the EPA to take on the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday night.
