Young curlers hit the ice in Wadena November 5-6 to take part in the Under 18 Junior Classic.

The event, hosted as a tune-up for provincial qualification, saw six teams take part, including two rinks out of the Wadena Curling Club.

Karla Friesen's Wadena rink won the tournament, defeating Cody Sutherland of Rosetown in the final.

Friesen knocked off Jay Bindig of Wadena in the semifinal. Bindig's rink also has Braden Fleischhacker of Humboldt on the team.

Bindig wound up taking the 'B' event with a win over James Hom of Balgonie.

The 'C' event saw Regina's Drew Voss get the win over Emily Haupstein of Weyburn.

Qualifying spiel's for the Provincial Junior Championship begin Friday in Regina. Two more will be held prior to the championship, which begins December 27.
