Former WHL Player Pens Salute To Broncos

Support for the Humboldt Broncos has been shown in many forms.  Most recently in some poetry written by Darren Wright, who played four years in the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders.  He spent time with the Broncos before playing in the WHL and the ECHL as a draft pick of the Boston Bruins.  

Here are his words:

_{TO THE IRON LUNG CLUB.}

_{When you got on that bus}

you had made it, you'd become one of us.

_{We'd already made it to the bigs in our own minds.}

Didn't matter where you came from, we excepted all kinds.

_{We were brothers at war, through thick and thin.}

In the corners on the boards and when your goalie took a cheap shot to the chin.

_{This game will separate the men from the boys}

_{But also gives you, friendship, memories and unbelievable joys.}

_{Some teams are pure talent, and some were just fit.}

_{Most were all average.}

_{But the best ones had heart and true grit.}

_{You were given a jersey of the local city or town.}

_{You wore it with pride like a king wore his crown.}

_{But let's not forget that even a king will lose a battle.}

_{Some games your just off and your completely rattled.}

_{But as a band of brothers, we wanted more.}

_{You wanted revenge, you had pride and wanted to settle the score.}

_{It wasn't about battles it was about winning the war.}

_{There are games that you should win and some you should lose.........}

_{But if you haven't gone all out most times it's not for you to choose.}

_{If you're having one of those games, just look left and look right.}

_{Your teammates beside you}

_{will help you battle all night.}

_{Wear your jersey with pride and leave it all on the ice.}

_{You only get one shot before they shut out the lights.}

_{Win or lose it was all the same, we'd get on old iron lung to do all over again.}

_{We don't do it as warriors, for money or fame.......}

_{We did it for our brothers ....the team.}

_{And most of all the love of the game.}

_{Humbolt Players, staff, families, billets, fans and friends along with all loved ones.}

_{Canada is with you in this dark time and we are all here sending you love and prayers to get through this tragic event.}
